  • 1/3 cup popcorn kernels
  • 2 tbsp Earth Balance Spread
  • 1/3 cup nutritional yeast

Heat the Earth Balance Spread

OK, friends, let’s be VERY careful when you make this popcorn. Cook it in a large pot on your stove that hopefully has a glass lid so you can see when the popcorn has fully popped.

Start by heating 2 large heaping kitchen tablespoons of Earth Balance Spread on almost high heat on your stove. Keep the lid on the pot closed. Its best if you can also have a set of hot pads on to hold the sides of the pot and to use your thumbs to keep the lid closed because when the popcorn starts popping it can pop the lid off if you’re not holding it down.

Add the Popcorn Kernels

Once the spread has melted, add about 4 kernels to the melt, put the lid back on, and start moving the pot back and forth across the stove over the heat. Make sure to keep your thumbs (in hot pads) on the lid. Once those 4 kernels have popped, carefully open the lid and pour the remaining 1/3 cup of kernels in the pot. Close and continue moving the pot over the heat. The popcorn will suddenly start popping like crazy so be sure to keep your thumbs on the lid! When the popping slows down (after about 30 seconds), lift from the heat, but continue moving the pot around for about 20 more seconds. Once the popping has stopped, pour into a large bowl and sprinkle 1/3 cup of nutritional yeast over the top. Give the popcorn a good stir and enjoy!
